 from marine sciences to environmental physics. She advocates for climate ju
 stice and land rights through her scientific and community work. ​</p><p>Sh
 e is the author of the award-winning book Fresh Banana Leaves: Healing Indi
 genous Landscapes through Indigenous Science. She is currently working on h
 er second book\, Growing Papaya Trees: Nurturing Indigenous Roots of Climat
 e Displacement & Justice. Forbes has named Hernandez one of the 100 most po
 werful & influential women in Central America.<strong> </strong></p><p><str
 ong>Talk title: </strong>Indigenous Science: From Local to Global Context<s
 trong> </strong></p><p><strong>Talk Abstract:</strong><br />Indigenous scie
 nce (Indigenous knowledge systems) can assist in developing initiatives des
 igned to heal our planet holistically and create more climate-just solution
 s.  Currently\, Indigenous science contributes enormously to the management
  of natural resources and conservation of the world’s biodiversity. In this
  presentation\,  Dr. Hernandez will discuss the use of Indigenous science i
 n the pursuit of climate justice while examining the work of Indigenous com
 munities around the world engaged in environmental and land issues.</p><p><
 strong>Event details:<br /></strong>This event will take place <strong>in-p
 erson and on Zoom</strong>\, on <strong>Tuesday</strong> <strong>March 12th
