Digital Resources

The Department of Geography has various digital resources and facilities that are available to students and the faculty to utilize in their research.

Computing Resources

From running climate models on high-performance computing clusters to sharing audio and images via digital exhibits and interactive web maps, geographer’s have incredibly diverse academic computing needs. We’ve gathered a collection of resources and documentation, including e-books and open-access materials, that can be helpful in familiarizing oneself with the various tools and software that are commonly used in Geography research, instruction, and learning.

Computer Labs

The Department of Geography has 2 computer labs that students can access to complete assignments in Geography courses requiring specialized software such as GIS, Cartography, Remote Sensing, and Statistics.

Geospatial Data

Example of geospatial data visualization – exploration in multivariate mapping via tilings, by Luke Bergmann and David O’Sullivanan

Geospatial datasets are what drives analyses in Cartography, GIS, and Remote Sensing. Finding the correct sources is often the most resource-consuming activity in spatial analysis projects.
