Advising

UBC uses Calendly, an online appointment scheduling application provided by Calendly LLC and hosted on servers located outside of Canada (specifically, in the US), to enable current and prospective students to schedule academic advising appointments and discussions.

UBC collects some of your personal information (name, e-mail address, and requested discussion topic) in order to schedule an appointment with an appropriate advisor. UBC collects this information under the authority of section 26(c) of BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

UBC requires your consent to disclose your personal information to Calendly and to store and access this information outside of Canada in order to provide you access to Calendly's services. By clicking the "Schedule Event" button, you are granting your consent for your personal information to be disclosed by UBC to Calendly and for that information to be stored and accessed outside of Canada.

Academic Progress Report (APR) in Workday captures how courses you've taken counted toward your degree. Use this form to submit a request for manual APR overrides to meet program requirements, such as:

• Apply newly approved courses to earlier versions of program requirements
• Rearrange APR to avoid double-counting
• Apply transferred credits toward program requirements
• Request special topics courses to satisfy program requirements (such as GEOG 346 and 446)

There are a number of new PLAN courses that have been launched in 2026W or will be launched in the following years to fulfill the program requirements for the Major of Urban Studies. Depending on your program entrance time, these courses may or may not be automatically reflected on your Academic Progress Report (APR) in Workday. Given so, manual APR overrides are required to recognize some of these courses.

Please use this request form if you have taken or are taking any of these approved new PLAN courses and wish to apply them toward your program requirements. One course can only fulfill one focus area.

Note: To complete the Major, all students must take one PLAN and one GEOG course for each of the five focus areas (Cities and Communities; Globalizing Cities; Technology and Cities; Nature of Cities; Indigenous Urban Life). This form only refers to new options for the PLAN courses.
