About

Care, crip/critical disability studies, more-than-human geographies, social difference, domesticities

Pursuing a doctor of philosophy degree

Supervisor: Juanita Sundberg

My research investigates the failures of systems and social institutions traditionally entrusted with care. Do we truly live in such an uncaring world or have we simply been taught to disregard more expansive ways of caring hidden in plain sight? Cats are one of humanity’s most ubiquitous yet unexamined care relationships. By taking this seemingly silly subject seriously, my research demonstrates that we regularly engage in more varied and creative ways of caring than we realize, suggesting that we are equipped—even eager—to take much better care of each other and the world in which we live than we have been led to believe.

Additional Description

Feminist/queer/gender studies, animal geographies, domesticities, social and species difference, cultural studies
