Learning more about career opportunities is extremely beneficial for all students. The Geography Students’ Association recognizes that it’s important to provide Geography students with chances to connect with alumni and professionals working in geography-related fields. This year’s 6th Annual Careers Night was on Monday, March 2nd. Guests present included Ian Fisher, Eve Hou (Metro Vancouver), Phil Casey (Goldcorp), Elise Spearing, and Charlotte Watson. We had three speed-dating segments with groups of around 8 students at each table with one professional. After 15 minutes, they would switch tables. At the end, we had half an hour of open mingling which gave students a chance to talk to professionals that they were most interested in. Students were given brochures with bios of each guest and a list of potential questions they could ask.
