Dr. Zoe Panchen, a postdoctoral research fellow at UBC Geography, has been awarded the 2019 NSERC and L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Supplement.
The award was announced at a ceremony held at the French Embassy in Ottawa on Monday 25th November.
The L’Oréal Canada For Women in Science program was launched in 2003 to enable Canadian women scientists to pursue and expand their research projects.
Dr. Panchen’s research is focused on Arctic ecology; exploring how plant communities respond to a changing climate. Her fieldwork is conducted on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut.
The $10,000 supplement will support her ongoing work in this remote and ecologically sensitive area.
