About

Upon returning to Canada at war’s end, Bert continued his education at UBC, ultimately earning his PhD in cartography at the University of Wisconsin. The fifties were spent at the parliament buildings in Victoria, where he was employed by the government as a geographer and collaborated to write the first BC Resources Atlas. In the sixties he earned a professorship at UBC where he lectured and researched for twenty years. Just before his retirement, he wrote the new BC Resources Atlas.

Bert was former Head of the Department (1968-1974)
