New COVID-19 arrangements for Winter Term 2

In line with UBC guidance announced today, all UBC Geography graduate and undergraduate teaching for 2021 Winter Term 2 will take place online from January 10th – January 24th, 2022.

We plan to return to the originally scheduled mode of delivery (in person, online, or hybrid) as of January 24, but will advise if that changes.

This decision allows students to know what to expect in January and instructors to plan accordingly for the start of the new term. Those travelling abroad should plan to be back on campus in time to undergo any quarantine period that may be required before the start of in-person classes.

All course information will be available in Canvas, or students will hear directly from instructors/TAs.

Campus will remain open during this time, including student housing, student services, and all libraries. Administrative units, such as Arts Academic Advising and Arts Instructional Support and Information Technology (ISIT), will be back at work and ready to support students and faculty as they prepare for the start of classes on Monday, January 10.

Please bear with us as we determine how this will impact in-person services offered within the Geography department. Our priority at all times is the safety and wellbeing of staff, students and faculty. Our COVID-19 page and the university’s COVID-19 website will be regularly updated.

We hope that you and your loved ones stay safe this holiday season, and have the opportunity to recharge.
