Desirée Valadares has been awarded a 2022 Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) Research Fellowship in Montreal. This is a competitive research grant that brings together a small cohort of 3 junior scholars in architectural history and theory.

Dr. Valadares will be in residency in August, working on a project called, “Staging the Scenic” which studies labor histories of scenic byway designations across Canada — with a focus on BC’s roads and highways. Her research will be archival-based and focused on the CCA’s collections related to infrastructure, travelogues and highway promotion in Canada.
